It’s always important to check the weather the day before and the day-of a wedding at Redondo Beach Historic Library, as temperatures along the California coastline vary and change drastically from morning to day to night. We recommend sunscreen for morning and daytime ceremonies, and warm coats for evening ceremonies and receptions. The ceremony lawn is fully outdoors, cocktail hour is typically a mix of indoors and outdoors utilizing both our ballroom space and fountain courtyard, the dinner reception in our three connected garden dining rooms is indoors, and the reception ballroom for dancing and cake cutting is also indoors. The cool ocean breeze strength changes year-round, and although heaters are present at Redondo Beach Historic Library and additional heaters can be rented in advance, we recommend guests bring layers for optimal comfort throughout all parts of your wedding.

The dress code is up to the couple, and if you have a vision for the guest attire you’d like to see and have in photos, it’s helpful to include this on your invitations and wedding website. In addition to the traditional attires of black-tie, white-tie, cocktail, beach formal, and semi-formal, we’ve also enjoyed the rise of creative wedding guest attire suggestions, such as whimsical garden party and tropical formal.

For the couple, the wedding attire is completely up to your wishes; whether both partners choose to wear dresses or both wear suites, one may wear white while the other wears another color such as black, both parties may wear white, one or both parties choose to wear high-heels or flat dress shoes, what matters most is that you feel your best and most authentic self on your wedding day.
